Develop a Rhythm
Newborns normally sleep 16 hours or more per day. But oftentimes, it is stretched in a matter of hours. Despite the fact that the pattern may be erratic initially, having consistent sleep schedule would be developed soon after. This happens the moment your baby matures and could go longer between feeds.

Let Your Baby Sleep inside Your Room
Preferably, your baby must sleep inside your room but alone in their bassinet, crib or any structure that is designed for babies for the next 6 to 12 months. This can help in decreasing risks for SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Adult beds are not entirely safe for newborn. Babies may be trapped and suffocated between headboard slats or the space between bed frame and mattress or space between the wall and mattress.
