Indiana Access NewsIndiana Access program principles and in-depth analyses of its outcomes regularly make the “rounds” at various conferences and in publications. Most recently:
- Indiana Access was on the agenda at the annual conference of the Indiana Public Health Association in Lafayette, Indiana, and at the second annual Cultural Competency Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, sponsored by a Louisville Medicaid managed care organization and the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Indiana Access Director Larry Humbert provided information about various aspects of the program.
- Exploring the Meaning & Solutions to Unintended Pregnancies: The Role of Natural Community Helpers was displayed at the 16th Annual National CityMatch Conference in Providence, Rhode Island. The poster summarized the issue and recommendations gleaned from a collaboration with Indianapolis Healthy Start's Baby First Advocates. This study was also featured in the summer 2006 edition of CityLights, the quarterly national CityMatch newsletter.
- The wealth of insights that can be gained when health care providers adopt a "learner's stance" was explored during the annual conference on the American Academy on Communication & Health Care Research at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. The conference highlighted these important focus group findings.
- Three manuscripts that contain various quantitative analyses of the matched prenatal survey/birth certificate data are in development. These documents, and an additional manuscript on focus group findings and practice implications, will be submitted for publication.
