Baby First... Right from the Start! Consumer Education Campaign

Baby First is a multi-media campaign that promotes awareness of the need for prenatal care and a healthy lifestyle before, during and after pregnancy. Originated in Indiana, the campaign harnesses the power of mass media to communicate its important educational messages. The messages include a call to action that urges women to phone the toll-free Indiana Family HelpLine for information and assistance.

Objectives

By blanketing the state with Baby First educational messages, the Indiana Perinatal Network aims to:

Educate families about vital perinatal issues such as the need for prenatal care, the impact of unintended pregnancy, the important role that fathers play, the occurrence of perinatal depression and more.
Focus on the need for the mother's family and community to nurture and assist her in achieving the best pregnancy possible.
