Programs/Projects: Breastfeeding.
Chair: Kathy McCoy, RN, IBCLC; meets monthly
- Works in the areas of consensus building, advocacy and education
- Develops public education materials to promote breastfeeding and its benefits
- Meets the third Thursday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 am
- Recent accomplishments:
- Instrumental in advocating legislation (passed in 2003) that protects a woman's right to breastfeed in public.
- Contributed to the development of a state breastfeeding plan in collaboration with WIC and BestStart Social Marketing
- Published the IPN Breastfeeding Promotion Consensus Statement (January 2002)
